the great war started with g Germany invasion of Poland September 1st 1939  when at 4:45 am 1.5 million German troops poured across all of the 1750 mile long border that germany shered with Poland simultaneously the germany air force called the Luftwaffe attacked the polish air bases  as well as the german navy attacked ther ports this was the first time that tanks were yoused in masse this was known as the blitzkrieg or lightnig war.

the german forces advanced at a dizzing rate using panzer tanks to smash thrue enamy lines and made large gains in on the first day but it didn't take long for the allies to take notice. England and France declared war on the 3rd by the 8th of September the German troops advanced as far as the outskirts of Warsaw . the German troops advanced 140 miles in a week of war which was unheard of for the time.

polish Calvary moving to the front
on September 17th Russia attacked Poland from the east  forcing the poles to fight two fronts  at the same time the war got so bad that the polish armies had to send cavalry men against  the German armor we can only  guess how well that worked.
Poland surrendered on September 28th  just 28 days after the invasion started. the biggest controversy that happened during this time was how little the British and French did during this time they made almost no military moves against  Germany. and watched the defeat of Poland.

  1. Military history is interesting, but we need you take on it, your voice. Otherwise, why wouldn't we just read a book? Can you come by during my office hours to talk? M-W 11-2:20.
